By fire protection we mean all the measures taken to protect against fire and its consequences. Materials such as wood, brick walls, cement, plasterboard or steel, need protection from the fire because they either burned or destroyed and lose their properties. For their protection are coated with special paints. Fire protection based by paints of this kind depends on the composition of the paint, the nature of the surface, the dimensions of the object, and of course on the thickness of the coating. These paints retard the fire by swelling on heating, creating a heat insulating layer.
